This is the blog for Gavin and Carrie Jones and family. We live in Papua New Guinea and are working to see lives transformed by the living Word of God through Bible translation. Gavin is a helicopter pilot. Carrie, who has her degree in Public Health, works in the lab at our busy rural clinic. Our son, Isaac, was born in 2004 and our quintuplets, Will, David, Marcie, Seth, and Grace, were born in 2012.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. The you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:3-6

Being suctioned :(

The babies were awake from about 4 until about 11 p.m. yesterday, miserably tired yet unwilling/unable to go to sleep. We did all of the following, often together: swaddling, feeding, bathing, pacifier, shushing, white noise, rocking, bouncing, finally getting a couple to sleep, only to have a couple others re-wake them!!! I was definitely not the happiest child of God, being "suctioned" of my junk - in this case, impatience and selfishness. Thanks for continuing to pray for us. The babies, too. It's hard to see them so miserable. I don't think it was due to the remainder of their cold; they just decided sleep was overrated! I pray tonight is better. The afternoon and night before were great, and Gavin and I even got out on a date, so I realize these things are passing. "Light and momentary troubles," as the Apostle Paul put it. :)

Will demonstrating what we need more of around here; preferably in their beds! :)

  2. A Catholic friend of ours remarked once 'We are sanctified by our children.' My guess is you two have A LOT of suctioning ahead. :)

Grace and peace be with you both - in Jesus' name!!!

  3. Suctioning...that's a great metaphor. I remember the first morning home from the hospital with Nellie - I woke up realizing that I had to feed/change/dress a baby before I could even think about having a cup of coffee or breakfast. I felt like my selfishness was being violently torn away. Now I realize it's more of an every day sanctification. Anyway, hang in there and we're praying!

I cаn't exactly remember why--maybe it was peer pressure from our health-driven community, who knows. I tried dozens of different recipes for pizza crust, and none of them were satisfactory.
