This is the blog for Gavin and Carrie Jones and family. We live in Papua New Guinea and are working to see lives transformed by the living Word of God through Bible translation. Gavin is a helicopter pilot. Carrie, who has her degree in Public Health, works in the lab at our busy rural clinic. Our son, Isaac, was born in 2004 and our quintuplets, Will, David, Marcie, Seth, and Grace, were born in 2012.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. The you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:3-6

Yay, Seth! Yay, God!

Seth is now on a CPAP setting of 4! The next step is high-flow humidified, oxygenated air (Vapotherm). Hooray!

Love this link one of you sent me, below; Lord willing our story will mirror theirs (minus the pink tutu), although it would be wonderful if Seth only has to be on supplemental oxygen for a few weeks or months and not 3.5 years. We are certainly praying that way as we want to return to PNG as soon as possible!

  2. Fantabulous!! You go, Seth!!

Thank you, Lord, for this marvelous news and Seth's continued improvement. We pray he will be home soon to join his brothers and sisters. And, Lord, we pray for those little sibs at home, that they may get over their colds, learn that sleep is their friend, and that they continue to improve as well. Bless Carrie and Gavin with strength to endure the journey and peace and patience enough to also enjoy the journey. Thank you for the helpers and please bless them as well. Giving You are the glory and honor, Lord. Amen. NKL

  9. Seth, Carrie, and Crew,
First off, go Seth, and go God! Praying for strength as big and small miracles continue to line your life.

Thanks for reading about our story with our girl, thanks for sharing your story and your lives here, and allowing all of us lift you up in prayer.

Carrie, I prayed a giant, mom-sized prayer for you this morning. Mothering kids is hard. Mothering kids with any kind of needs is exhausting. May you find some serious strength (and sleep!).

    Nice meeting you.

    1. Such an honor to meet you!!! Thanks for the giant prayer - I felt it! It was a lovely Mommy day that day. Please give your little miracle a hug for me. What an encouragement; I can't even begin to express it.

      Love in Christ,
      Carrie

  11. Gorgeous news. And I'm excited that you and Amy have "met" now, Carrie. Did you know Amy is the one who hosted the blog retreat in Asheville that I went to in March (or maybe it was April)? I met Kendall Privette there too. I'm not sure if this is how all our blogospheres are being connected, but if it is, doesn't it just prove that God has INCREDIBLE foresight, weaving his plan so elaborately in advance? :) Love it.

  12. Praise you God Our Father for this wonderful news....Way to go "Little Fighter" hang in there, in God's arms, so he can continue the healing in you..By the time YOU come home lets pray all the others are settled down and sleeping, so your coming home will be
peaceful....Hang in there to Dad, Mom, and Grandparents..God and his Angels are surrounding you With All Of His Grace, Strength and Wisdom, to care for this wonderful gift he has given you.... I heard this in Church this morning " God works in unusual ways, for his Plans for our lives, just like he did in Joseph and Mary's life, around Jesus' birth" I thought of your Family...:)

  13. That's wonderful news, we will keep praying! Our family prays every day especially for Seth, but also all the others. My kids (age 13 and 8) have all the names memorized and my daughter - the 8 year old - even knows them all by sight in the pictures. Gavin and Carrie, you are often in my prayers. I was with Wycliffe from 1989 to 1999 and worked in Southeast Asia as a literacy consultant. My husband and I are still missionaries (with Pioneers) and now work in Canada. I lived for a few years in the Duncanville area during SIL training. Anyway, just wanted to "introduce" myself and let you know that the Helgersons in Ontario, Canada are praying without ceasing!
