This is the blog for Gavin and Carrie Jones and family. We live in Papua New Guinea and are working to see lives transformed by the living Word of God through Bible translation. Gavin is a helicopter pilot. Carrie, who has her degree in Public Health, works in the lab at our busy rural clinic. Our son, Isaac, was born in 2004 and our quintuplets, Will, David, Marcie, Seth, and Grace, were born in 2012.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. The you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:3-6

And a couple more

FYI, I am taking Seth in today to rule out pyloric stenosis as the cause of his vomiting. He'll get an ultrasound to check for thickening of the pyloric sphincter. Thanks for continuing to pray!

Marcie enjoying Seth (that's his night nurse)

Seth calmly sucking oxygen. He's definitely self-weaning. He loves pulling his canula out!

My beautiful girls! Thanks, Lisa, for the outfits!! They wore gorgeous red taffeta and black velvet dresses on Sunday with matching patent leather Mary Jane shoes with ruffles, also thanks to Lisa. :) Alas, I didn't take a picture before they ruined them (for the day) with drool and spit-up.

Laughing together. Looking more and more alike! Gracie is on the left, Marcie on the right.

Could Gracie be any happier with her friend Vivienne? We had a wonderful time on Saturday morning at the Cowan Retirement Center where my mom works. LOVE you, Cowan residents! Thank you for praying!

Pool days!

Our new hot weather pastime. David, Seth, Marcie, Gracie and Will (left to right)

Thankfully the manufacturers included this warning on the side of the pool so we knew to intervene when Will tried to dive in head-first yesterday. (Really, how funny is it that a no-diving warning is required on the side of a kiddy pool?)

Close-ups of our precious quints in birth order

 Will Edward
2 lb 10 oz at birth, now 18 lb. 4 oz.

 David Stephen
2 lb 7 oz at birth, now 15 lb. 8.5 oz

 Marcie Jane
2 lb even at birth, now 14 lb. 13 oz

 Seth Jared,
2 lb 1 oz at birth, now 15 lb. 15 oz

And last but never least . . .

The small but mighty Grace Elise! 13 lb 14.5 oz, well above her birth weight of 1 lb 12 oz.

Update Tuesday the 30th of April

Seth and Will at Cranial Technologies yesterday - they get out of their helmets next week! It's remarkable how much their little flat heads (on one side only, in the back) have filled out! Will LOVES this car and loves to have me drive him back and forth. Seth loves to watch. I could never get them both to smile at the same time, hence the two pictures.

Gracie showing off her new little summer outfit from Donna and Florida! At least the quints got something from Aunt Samantha being gone for two weeks. We're SO glad to have Sam back!

Seth is SO funny, looking pleased as punch to have his pretty sister beside him!

Dog-pile! The reality of multiple birth photo sessions.
Seth, Gracie, David, Marcie, and Will. The boys' outfits have sharks and the girls' have little crabs.

Five little munchkins in a row. Will, Marcie, Seth, Gracie, David. The boys are learning to sit well, so before too long we'll have some good sitting-up photos!

David exploring the picnic table with Will in the far background exploring the pepper grinder. We spend a LOT of time on the back porch and in the back yard now that the days are so much warmer!

Visit to St. Paul UT Southwestern University Hospital NICU - more pictures by their photographer

Big Brother Isaac gets in on the action - as does David! Grace finds David's antics very funny.

Several of the nurses got teary over Seth. This is Sue, one of the ladies who tenderly and protectively cared for him. I remember crying in front of her and her tearing-up as well in sympathy, offering some words of godly wisdom.

Gavin presenting the plaque of appreciation

On the left is the NICU manager Aziza, who planned like crazy for our babies' births and even had a huge whiteboard calendar to mark off each extra day I managed to stay pregnant - 28 weeks had exclamation marks on it! Then one of our NICU nurses, my labor coaching nurse (LOVE Stephanie!!!), Jill the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, and Celeste another sweet nurse who had our kiddos.

Aziza (NICU Manager), Dr. Warner, the UT Southwestern Hospitals CEO, and Dr. Burgess, our beloved neonatologist, the "Chief" of the whole operation of keeping our 1 lb 12 oz to 2 lb 10 oz babies alive - serving under the Ultimate Chief, of course. ;)

Happy family - well, all but Gracie are happy
David, Grace, Seth, Marcie, and Will

Love this close-up of Grace's amazing eyes!

Dr. Santiago holding Baby A (Will) and visiting with Baby D (Seth). She delivered all five babies in about 3.5 minutes! It seemed really amazingly fast to me, too. Will's arms and legs were waving from the get-go, but Seth came out grey. Both look pretty great now, praise God!

With Dr. Burgess

With Gavin's parents. Again, David (being held by Isaac), Gracie and Seth, Marcie and Will. My parents couldn't make this reunion, although they would have loved to! We ALL appreciate St. Paul/UT Southwestern beyond words!

Sisters!

quick pictures Friday the 26th

I put shoes on David for the first time today. He was obsessed!

Gracie-kins loves being outside

Beautiful blue eyes on Seth in the bath

Seth falls asleep more easily in the Johnny-Jump-Up than any other place!
The hilarious thing is he keeps bouncing a couple of times a minute in his sleep. :)

Silly Daddy contorting Gracie's face

That's better!
