This is the blog for Gavin and Carrie Jones and family. We live in Papua New Guinea and are working to see lives transformed by the living Word of God through Bible translation. Gavin is a helicopter pilot. Carrie, who has her degree in Public Health, works in the lab at our busy rural clinic. Our son, Isaac, was born in 2004 and our quintuplets, Will, David, Marcie, Seth, and Grace, were born in 2012.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. The you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all you heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:3-6

This is hard

Hi all,

We are exhausted tonight after a very hard evening. We appreciate your prayers for the kids' adjustment as well as ours. We hope and pray this gets easier. The crying and clinginess is very difficult, especially between 5:00 and bedtime, when most kids have a tougher time due to tiredness and hunger. I guess I need to figure out how to "do" quints on the other side of the world where everything seems to take so much more time. We're also fighting some illness (sore throat for me, tummy bug for Isaac) and feeling overwhelmed by how much there still is to do - one bite at a time! Gavin is trying to get a fence built so the kids can run outside, but the road to where the fence posts are being stored is broken currently.

Thanks for praying!

A praise is Opalyn had her quints and they are doing great! At 31 weeks!! (Tuesday)

Love,
Carrie

  1. Awwwww, adjustment and settling in are hard on everybody but harder when your away from what was "normal". Finding that new "normal" will take time I imagine. I will be sending up extra prayer for the Quints to settle quicker and stay healthy.

    Philippians 4:6
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God."

    Psalm 55:22
"Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved."

My prayer for you today is that you feel His strength, His peace, His calming on you and your family and that he restores you and Isaac to good health. Rest when you can, the other "stuff" will get done in it's own time. Nobody ever passed away from crumbs on the floor, dirty laundry in piles or dishes in the sink. Sit and play with those beautiful babies, hold them when needed and just love each other....the rest will sort itself out in due time. Hugs and lots of prayers coming your way.

  2. Praying for you all to adjust. It takes time to adjust to the new time, new place, new things, new life. Praying the illnesses to not go through all the babies and helpers. I remember trying to adjust to that time zone with 3 kids under 4. I will pray for you to get rest and have peace with what gets done for that day is enough. Hugs
